Drew Maddux carries many titles: four-year starter for the Commodores basketball team, television and radio personality, coach, mentor, loving father and faithful husband. Both on and off the court his integrity and upstanding character have always been evident.

Texas A&M University Head Coach commented, “Drew Maddux is doing a great job building CPA into one of the top programs in the state of Tennessee.  Drew plays an integral part in his player’s lives, helping develop them not only as players, but more importantly as people.  He is instilling in them the steps to becoming a man, challenging their mind, body and spirit.  I am looking forward to recruiting his student-athletes in the future.”

Drew graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University in 1998. While attending Vanderbilt, Drew added an impressive list of awards to his resumé including: ALL-SEC Freshman, USA Olympic Festival Team, First Team ALL-SEC, Honorable Mention ALL-AMERICA honors, Academic ALL-SEC member and Outstanding Young Men of America in 1998. 

After college, he chose a career that merged his love for basketball and entertainment. He has worked as a college basketball television analyst, co-host of his own radio show on 104.5 FM “The Zone”- the leading sports talk radio station in Nashville, TN, a college basketball studio analyst for the Fox affiliate show titled “Sports Zone” and on the ESPN affiliate 102.5 “The Game”.

As Head Coach at CPA, Drew creates a positive environment where his athletes can learn and grow. Anthony Grant, Former University of Alabama Head Coach stated, “Drew Maddux is affecting the lives of student-athletes in the Nashville area in a very positive way both on the court and off as the Head Coach at CPA. Drew is a tremendous communicator to young people today.  His passion for making players better and building a program based on teamwork and playing for something that is greater than themselves is what I have been most impressed with. I hope to get the opportunity to recruit and coach a Drew Maddux coached player for years to come.”

Having been recognized and selected by the Princeton Premier in 2008, and awarded the Allstate SEC Basketball Legends Award in 2012, Drew has always maintained a humble attitude as he shares his love for the game.

Drew and his wife, Tara, live in Nashville, Tennessee with their daughters, Emma, Ava, and Sarah James and sons, Patrick and Nicholas. He is an active member of the Nashville community serving on the Board of Directors for the Joe C. Davis YMCA Center, Vanderbilt’s National Commodore Club, the PENCIL Foundation, Chairman of the 2020 Board and has served as President of the Rebounder’s, Vanderbilt Basketball’s former Letterman Club.
