Dr. Barney Self is a graduate of Baylor University and holds Master of Religious Education and Doctor of Education degrees in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since 1984, Barney has worked with individuals, couples and families in providing therapeutic assistance. His areas of specialization are depression, anxiety, grief and loss, marriage and relationship issues, parenting, sexual abuse, family therapy, premarital counseling, identity issues, codependency, blending family issues, divorce adjustment and spiritual issues.

He is a member of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, The American Association of Christian Counselors, Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Society for Christian Psychology, and The Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors.

Barney is an ordained minister. He and his wife, Cathy, have two grown children who are married. He enjoys playing with his grandchildren, viewing sports events, reading, and traveling with his wife.
