Selected by the Ottawa Senators in the second round (No. 44) of the 1998 NHL Draft, Mike Fisher made his NHL debut with the Senators on Oct. 2, 1999, against the Philadelphia Flyers. He got his first NHL points with two assists Oct. 21, 1999, against the Colorado Avalanche and scored his first League goal Oct. 31, 1999, against goaltender Damian Rhodes and the Atlanta Thrashers.
Fisher made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut April 13, 2001, against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored 15 goals in 2001-02 and played in the 2002 YoungStars Game.
Fisher had 18 goals in 2002-03 and scored the winner in Game 5 of the second round against the Philadelphia Flyers as Ottawa clinched the series. His lone playoff goal in 2003-04 was an overtime winner in Game 6 of the first round against Toronto.
Fisher scored 22 goals in 2005-06 and was a finalist for the Selke Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s best defensive forward. He had five goals and 10 points in the 2007 playoffs and helped Ottawa advance to the Stanley Cup Final,. They finished second in the postseason with 73 hits.
Fisher, who scored his 100th NHL goal Dec. 12, 2007 against the Carolina Hurricanes, led the Senators with 25 goals in 2009-10. He was tied for the team lead with 14 goals in 2010-11 when the Senators traded him to the Nashville Predators Feb. 10, 2011, for a 2001 first-round draft pick and a 2012 third-round draft pick.
Nashville went 15-8-4 after acquiring Fisher, who led NHL forwards with 89 blocked shots. He scored 24 goals, including a team-high seven game-winners, in 2011-12 and won the 2012 NHL Foundation Award. This award recognizes a player who applies the core values of hockey – commitment, perseverance and teamwork – to enrich the lives of people in his community. As an alternate captain in 2012-13, Fisher had an eight-game point streak from March 14-28, 2013 and scored his 200th NHL goal Feb. 25, 2013, against the Dallas Stars.
Fisher led the Predators in shooting percentage (17.1) in 2014-15, scoring 19 goals, and got his 500th NHL point Jan. 29, 2015, against the St. Louis Blues. He played his 1,000th NHL game March 3, 2016, against the New Jersey Devils.
Mike Fisher is married to Carrie Underwood, American Country Music Singer. They reside outside of Nashville, TN with their son Isaiah and are expecting their second child in 2019.
